Bennie G. Stinson, 91 of Ottawa, KS passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 at Ottawa Retirement Village. He was born March 4, 1926 in Dodge City, Kansas the son of Glenn "Red" Stinson and Josephine (Reekie) Stinson. Bennie lived in Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri and lived most of his life in the Princeton, Kansas area. He graduated from Princeton High School with the Class of 1944. Bennie was a lifelong farmer, who owned a Can Milk Route and Co-owned with his wife Stinson Meat Processing until 2014. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Ottawa, Kansas Meat Processors Association where he served as Past-President, Kansas Livestock Association, National Angus Association, Franklin County Farm Bureau, Franklin County Rural Water #2 Board Member, Night Crawlers Camping Club and was a 4-H Leader. He enjoyed camping, fishing in Canada, hunting quail, making homemade ice cream with his kids and grandkids and going on family vacations in the Stinabego. On November 2, 1945, Bennie was united in marriage to Jean Herring at her parents' home in Princeton, KS. They shared over 69 years of marriage before Jean's passing on July 9, 2015. He is survived by two daughters, Lois Livingood and her husband Jerry of Livermore, Colorado and Karen Martinez and her husband Tom of Princeton, Kansas; a son, Joe Stinson and his wife Brenda of Ottawa, Kansas; a son-in-law, Jeff Casten and wife Merrilyn of Quenemo, Kansas; twelve grandchildren; and twenty-one great grandchildren. Bennie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Jean; a son, David Stinson; a daughter, Joyce Casten; and a great-granddaughter Angel McCurry. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the First Christian Church, 1045 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS 66067. Inurnment will follow at Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, KS. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2017 at the First Christian Church, Ottawa, KS.
