Beth Elaine Price was born March 31st, 1918. She was the daughter of Clyde & Margaret McDowell of Pomona, Kansas. She attended rural grade school and...
Beth Elaine Price was born March 31st, 1918. She was the daughter of Clyde & Margaret McDowell of Pomona, Kansas. She attended rural grade school and graduated from Appanoose High School in 1936. During WWII she worked in the Receiving Office at Boeing Aircraft, Whicita. In later years she worked as a Pharmacy Assistant in Overbrook at Shafer-Topping Drug Store. Beth was a member of Pomona Methodist Church in her early life, before becoming a member of the Overbrook United Methodist Church. She was a Sunday School Teacher in both communities.
On December 1, 1945 she married Gordie J. Price whom she met at the Boeing Plant in Wichita. They were married 45 years. They started their lives together in Wichita and then took over her parents farm North-East of Pomona a few years later. In 1947 their first child, David Lee Price was born. Patricia Price was born and unfortunately passed the the same day in 1950. Sally their youngest was born in 1952. In 1959 when Sally and David were in grade school the family moved to Overbrook where they built a new home. After 12 years of service at Toppings Drug Store, Beth retired upon Sally's graduation from High School. They then moved to Topeka. Gordie retired from DuPont in 1980. They enjoyed their retirement days together until Gordie passed away November 21, 1990. Beth then returned to Overbrook and devoted her time to family, friends and community.
Beth passed away at 7:00pm February 26, 2010 at Clare Bridge Senior Living of Topeka at the age of 91. She passed very peacefully with her family by her side. Her remains will reside next to her husband in the Pomona Cemetery.
Beth is survived by her son David Price who resides in South Topeka and owns his own Refrigeration company, Price Thermonics and has a daughter Kahthrina Ruud who resides in Souix Falls, South Dakota.
Beth's youngest daughter Sally Davis is married to Doug Davis they reside in Topeka.
Her Granddaughter Hattie Davis now lives in Los Angles where she works as an actress.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clyde & Margaret McDowell and two sisters Jo Hamilton and Sue Weinheimer.
Beth will be sadly missed, but always remembered.
