Charles Stanley Adell, age 84, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away June 1, 2014, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. Charles was born September 23, 1929, in Leonardville, KS, the son of Harry E. and Hazel A. (Martin) Adell. Charles graduated from Lane High School in 1949 and continued his education at Ottawa University and Emporia State University. He worked in retail at numerous locations. He taught in Coffey and Franklin County elementary schools. After 22 years, Charles retired from Town & Country Supply in Ottawa, KS. Charles was a member of the First Christian Church of Ottawa. He also belonged to the Ottawa Optimist Club and the Oasis Club. He served as a soloist/vocalist and trumpeter for many years. And, he received recognition from President Bush and General Schwarzkopf for writing the song "Desert Storm". Charles also volunteered with the Friendly Paws program along with his dog, Buffy. Charles was united in marriage with Donna Mayer on December 20, 1953 in Burlington, KS. They shared 60 years. Donna survives of the home. Charles is also survived by two sons, Stan Adell and wife, Adele, of Olathe, KS and Mark Adell and wife, Diana, of Drexel, Missouri; daughter, Cindy Anderson and husband, Roger, of Ottawa, KS; nine grandchildren, Jason Eichenberger and wife, Karen, of Overland Park, KS, Russell Anderson, Manteca, California, Adrienne Hart and husband, Garret, of Lee's Summit, MO, Joel Adell, Olathe, KS, Eric Adell, Austin, Texas, Mike Adell and wife, Tammy, of Pomona, KS, Christopher Adell, Pomona, KS, Tim Adell and wife, Bethany, of Wellsville, KS, and Ryan Adell, Ottawa, KS; twelve great-grandchildren; and a brother, Armond Adell and wife, Hazel, of Grandview, MO. Charles is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerome Adell. The family welcomes friends for a visitation service on Thursday June 5, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa, KS. The funeral service will be held Friday June 6, 2014 at 10 a.m. at First Christian Church, Ottawa, KS. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, KS.
