Dale Clifton Colwell was born September 5, 1932, in Kersey, Colorado to Harry Thompson Colwell and Eva Mae (Winslow) Colwell. He is survived by his wife, Darlene, of the home and three children: Donita Callahan and husband, Rob, of Ottawa, KS; Duane Colwell and wife, Lori, of Osage City, KS; Daniel Colwell of Wichita, KS. Two brothers, Jack Colwell of St. Joseph, MO, and John Colwell of Littleton, CO, and sister, Mary Margaret Stoaks of Kansas City, MO. Six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Dale grew up in and around Maryville, MO, in Nodaway County. He moved to Kansas City in 1951, to work rebuilding the city after the great flood. He worked through the apprentice program and became a journeyman carpenter with Carpenters Local #315. He built many of the major buildings, hospitals and schools in the metro area. After arriving in Kansas City, he became a member of First Assembly of God Church, in Overland Park, where he met and married, Darlene Joan Orender, on November 19, 1961. They made their home first in Overland Park, KS, then in Spring Hill, KS, moving to the Ottawa, KS area in 1971. In addition to his construction job, Dale farmed with his in-laws and daughter until his passing. Dale and his family were members of First Assembly of God (now Hope Anthem) Church, Ottawa, KS, where he was an active member and teacher. He especially enjoyed his work with the Royal Rangers boy's ministry. He was a member of The Gideons International and truly loved passing the scriptures to others. He spent his leisure time studying his Bible, reading history and researching family genealogy. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Hope Anthem Assembly of God Church, 520 E 13th St, Ottawa, KS. Family will meet with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00p.m Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at the Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa.
