Darrell Raymond Norris, age 73, passed away at home on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 surrounded by loved ones. He was born on October 17, 1941 in Lawrence, Kansas to Waldon and Ruth (Webster) Norris. Darrell was a lifelong Lawrence area resident. He graduated from Perry High School in 1959 and would go on to graduate from electrical trade school and become an electrical contractor. He started his own electrical contracting company, Quality Electric of Lawrence, in 1972. He sold the company and retired in 2006. He was also a private pilot since 1975. Darrell was a member of the International Comanche Society and served multiple times as Mid States Tribe Chief, a board member for Chihowa Retreat Center in Perry, KS, an Angel Flight Volunteer Pilot, served on many committees for the Worden United Methodist Church, and was always eager to volunteer his time. Darrell was a loving father and husband. Darrell also loved nature and the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, with bow and rifle, and fisherman. He traveled to many states in search of elk and deer. He also fished all over the world. Darrell was united in marriage to Phyllis Ann Anderson on May 19, 1963 in Lawrence, Kansas. She survives of the home. During their 52 years of marriage they enjoyed travelling the world. Darrell is also survived by two daughters, Kimberly Farmer and husband, Tom, Baldwin City, KS, and Melissa Howard and husband, Mike, Eudora, KS; a son, Doug Norris and wife, Anissa, Eudora, KS; seven grandchildren, Caleb, Colby, Gunnar, Halle, Lauren, Carlee, and Emily; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and a brother, David Norris, Lawrence, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gary Norris; and several nieces and nephews. Family will greet friends from 4 - 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Worden United Methodist Church, Worden, KS. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2015 at Worden United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Worden Cemetery.
