Dorothy Lucile Baston

Dorothy Lucile Baston, 89 of Olathe, KS formerly of Ottawa, KS, passed away August 27, 2016 at Evergreen Community of Johnson County, Olathe. Dorothy was born March 4, 1927 at Homewood, Kansas the daughter of Bufford Beeson and Pearl (Long) Beeson. Dorothy grew up and graduated from high school in the Ottawa area. She also lived in Colorado Springs, CO, Denver, CO, St. Louis, MO until returning in 1968 to reside on a farm north of Pomona. She then moved to Ottawa in 1981 and moved to Olathe with her daughter and family in 2010. She attended Ottawa Assembly of God Church, Ottawa, KS. She enjoyed gardening and was a wonderful cook and baker. She always enjoyed gardening in her yard. Her favorite thing to spend time doing was being with her family. She loved all of her children and grandchildren and held a special place in all their hearts. Dorothy was a seamstress for Mode-O-Day and later for H.D. Lee in Ottawa until her retirement in the early 80's. She also helped her husband on the farm raising hogs. On August 29, 1948, Dorothy was united in marriage with Kenneth Baston. They shared 40 years of loving marriage until Kenneth passed away in 1988. Dorothy is also preceded in death by her parents, and an infant sister. She is survived by her daughter; Karen Solis and her husband, Arthur, of Olathe, KS; son, Roger Baston and his wife, Beverly, of Jefferson City, MO; four grandchildren, Kaleena Viruete and her husband, Miguel, Sandi Baston, Kelly Gibson and her husband, Nick, Aaron Solis; and one great-grandchild, Joaquin Viruete. Graveside funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, KS.
