Dorothy Topp Obituary

Dorothy D. Topp, went home to be with Jesus, Saturday, December 30, 2017 at her home in Richmond, Kansas, where she has resided for the past 49 years. She previously had been in St. Luke's Hospital, surrounded by family due to complications from heart disease. The daughter of Hattie (Vanderveen) Huenink, Holland and Richard (Dick) Huenink, Nebraska, Dorothy was born January 13, 1931 in Hawarden, Iowa. She received her diploma from Sioux County, Iowa. She married Arnold Topp on December 15, 1949, and celebrated 53 years of marriage together. Dorothy was a homemaker and worked for the Oak Haven Nursing Home in Richmond for 30 plus years as a CNA, Med-aide and Restorative Aide. She was a bookkeeper for TT&T Salvage and Towing Services, Inc. for several years. She enjoyed preparing food for anyone that would eat it. She loved making bread, cinnamon rolls and cakes. She enjoyed sewing and all her friends and families were blessed with her hand-made projects. She also loved to garden, home-canning, picking fruit, hunting for pecans and blackberries. She was always active in her church and giving of her talents of cooking and sewing for any occasion in the community or church event. She is survived by her children, Linda Durbin (Jimmy) Lubbock, Texas, Betty Currie (Mark) Lawrence, Ks, Mike Topp (Lynda) Richmond, Ks, and Lorna (Jeff) Hemingway Porter, Texas. Grandchildren of Dorothy are Granddaughter, Melody Campbell (Russ), Grandson, Bench Currie (Kim), Granddaughter, Amanda Hardin (Bryan), Grandson, Jeremy Topp (Morgan), Grandson, Aaron Durbin, Granddaughter, Myranda Topp, Granddaughter, Kendra Alexander (David), Granddaughter Caryn Caylor (Adam), Grandson, Eric Ellisor, and Loren Topp (Katie). She is survived by sisters, Annie (Sis) Vansloten, Henritta Prange, Pearl Wieskamp, Edna Prange, and sister-in-laws Evelyn Joanne Huenink and Evelyn Huenink. Dorothy also called Grandma, Granny and Doe-Doe was great- grandmother to Kaden, Kiana, Karson, Karrah & Kai Campbell, Saylor & Acey Currie, Jaelyn Hardin, Hudson Topp, Ray, Sam, Joe & Ben Caylor and Annie, Libby, Luke Alexander. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Arnold), brothers, Garrit, Wilbur, Marvin, Henry, Rich and Harold Huenink and great grandson, Gavin Field Currie. Visitation services will be at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, 325 S. Hickory Street, Ottawa, Kansas, Thursday evening, January 4, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Ottawa Bible Church, 1623 S. Popular Street, Ottawa, Kansas, Friday, January 5, 2018 at 11:00 am.
