Dwayne Dawson Wilkins, age 81, found peace on August 10, 2015, at the Vintage Park Assisted Living facility in Ottawa, Kansas, where he was a resident for 2 years. Dwayne was born September 17, 1933 in Eldorado Springs, Missouri the son of Joseph and Hilda Wilkins. He is survived by his children, Michael and Gayla Wilkins of Pomona, Kansas, Deeanna and Mark Morrison of Georgia, Sharolynn and David Hall of Texas, Jo Lynne and Tracie Price of Florida, Teri and Tom Zaite of Florida, Paula Pacholke of Texas and his loving brother Glen Walker and his wife Sharon of Oregon. He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Zane, Catherine (Kay) Williams, Marion and Carl Whittenbrink, Arnold (Pete), Violet Carol, Gerald Dean, James and his brother, John Denzel, who passed at birth. Dwayne wore many hats throughout his life. He loved to collect hats; boy did he ever. He had more hats than most women have shoes!!! He managed to live through the depression and endured many hardships during his lifetime, but he remained positive and never gave up. He had a wonderful dry sense of humor, loved to fish, hunt, drive trucks and build things. However, nothing pleased him more than farming, being with his family, a good western movie, actually any western movie would do. He leaves behind many friends and loved ones. Our family extends a special "Thank You" to the staff at Vintage Park for the wonderful care he received as a resident. Thank you so much to Jackie, Theresa, Rhonda and all. A special thanks and warmest regard to Harold Leitnaker, dad's dinner partner and wonderful friend. You will live in our hearts and thoughts forever. We love you and will miss you very, very much A memorial service in Dwayne's honor will be held at Lamb- Roberts Funeral Home, 325 S Hickory Street, Ottawa, KS, at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 14, 2015.
