Eric Everts Obituary

Eric Scott Everts, 47, of Baldwin City, Kansas, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017 at his home.   He was born May 29, 1970 in Emporia, KS, the son of George G. Everts and Dixie Lee (Dixon) Bennett.  He grew up in Emporia and attended schools there. He went on to receive his GED and would soon become an ASE certified mechanic. Eric lived in the Baldwin City community for eleven years after moving from Louisa, Virginia. Eric was a very talented mechanic, who could take apart things and put them back together with his eyes closed. He was most recently employed at Kubota Tractor Corporation as a forklift operator, but also fixed engines at Arrowhead Hardware in Baldwin City and worked at Baldwin Auto Parts. He loved God and his family, even called his Mom at least once a week. He was a true MOPAR man and enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle with his many friends and family.   He attended New Life Assembly of God Church in Baldwin City. Eric is survived by his mother and step-father, Gail and Dixie Bennett of Emporia, KS; two daughters, Teresa Jones and husband, Justin, of Baldwin City and Lily Everts of Topeka, KS; his son, Kevin Wright of Baldwin City; his fiancé, Machelle Meade of Baldwin City; his grandparents, Roy and Donna Colston of Chanute, KS; three sisters, Loi Douglas and husband, Brad, of Emporia, Elisa Everts of Herndon, Virginia and Chantal Vaughan and husband, Jerry, of Hartford, KS; a brother, Gail Bennett, Jr., of Topeka; two grandchildren, Trinity and Hunter Jones of Baldwin City; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many, many others that called Eric their brother. He was preceded in death by his father, George Everts; his grandparents, Ken and Betty Everts; his grandmother, Gladys Colston; and two brothers, Brian Everts and Joel Frederickson. Celebration of Life services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 23, 2017, at the 12th Avenue Baptist Church, 2023 W. 12th Avenue, Emporia, KS, 66801. Inurnment will follow at Blakely Cemetery, Madison, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to Eric Everts Memorial Fund and sent c/o Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O.
