Erna Irene Pellettiere

Erna Irene Pellettiere,90, passed away February 14, 2015 at Homestead Assisted living in Olathe, KS. She was born in Oslo, Norway November 17, 1924, the daughter of Olaf Henrik and Margit Dagmar Johansen. Erna left Norway and came to the United States in April of 1947 where she began employment as a chamber maid for the Colgate family. She later worked for other families before briefly returning to Norway in 1952. Erna was united in marriage to Pat Pellettiere of the Bronx,NY in Elkton, Maryland on October 25, 1954 and became a U.S. citizen in1956. Erna and Pat shared nearly sixty years of marriage before Pat's death on April 7, 2014. Erna later worked for Loehmanns, a women apparel store, where she spent ten happy years. Erna and Pat would move to Ottawa, KS in 1977 where she completed her high school education which had been interrupted by the German occupation of Norway during World War II. She would later spend many enjoyable years employed as a maid at Naismith Hall on the University of Kansas campus in Lawrence, KS. Erna would befriend many students and it was during this time she became a devoted, lifelong fan of Jayhawk basketball. As a young women, Erna was very athletic and she remained very active until the very last days of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of sixty years,Pat Pellettiere; brother, Espen Glevoll and sisters, Elsa Ingier and Margit. Erna is survived by sons, Robert Pellettiere and wife, Cecelia, Olathe, KS, Steven Pellettiere and wife, Molly, Kansas City, Missouri; and grandchildren , Anthony Pellettiere, Ellie Pellettiere , Vincent Pellettiere and Dominic Pellettiere; as well as her Norwegian nieces and nephews with whom she always remained in contact. Inurnment and honors will be held at 9:00 a.m., Friday, February 20, 2015 at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. Private family services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 20, 2015 at Lamb Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa, KS.
