Esther Ruth Funk

ESTHER RUTH (RICHERT) FUNK, 87, Ottawa, KS went to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, November 13, 2015 at Brandon Woods in Lawrence, KS. She was born December 6, 1927 in Las Vegas, New Mexico, the daughter of H.A. and Helen (Stubbi) Richert. She was united in marriage to Marvin Funk on September 6, 1948. They shared over fifty-nine years of marriage until his death on November 29, 2007. Esther and Marvin raised their family in Hillsboro, Kansas until moving to Ottawa in 1971. Esther was a homemaker while they owned and operated DeLaval Dairy Supply Company and later, Funk Sales and Service both in Ottawa. She was a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church in Hillsboro, Kansas. Esther enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, Bruce Funk and his wife Shirley of Richwood, Texas, Troy Funk of Ottawa, Kansas and raised Farren Knapp as her son, of Ottawa, Kansas; four daughters, Patricia Zamora and her husband Carlos of Ottawa, Kansas, Bonnie Bulmer of Ottawa, Kansas, Robin Johnson and her husband Allen of Lawrence, Kansas and Ginger Kruger and her husband David of Lawrence, Kansas; two sisters, Rosa Peck of Wichita, KS and Eva Nickel of Corn, OK; twenty-six grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Funk was preceded in death by her husband Marvin; son-in-law Rick Bulmer; daughter, Roxanna M. Funk-Pence, four brothers, Ivan, Melvin, Ernest and Dave Richert; and two sisters, Selma Vickers and Mary Penner. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at the Ottawa First Assembly of God, 520 E. 13th, Ottawa, KS 66067. The family will receive friends at 10 am before the service at the Church. Inurnment will follow at Clinton Cemetery.
