Gary Lynn Craig, 40, of Baldwin City, Kansas, passed away at the University of Kansas Hospital on April 1, 2014. Gary was born on September 18, 1973 in Gardner, KS to Allen and Sheila (Haynes) Craig. Gary grew up in Baldwin City and graduated from Baldwin High School in 1993. Most people may try to remember Gary for the many adversities that he faced throughout life. That's not at all who Gary was though. That's not how he thought of himself or how he wanted others to think of him. Gary's friends & family will remember him as a strong, determined, stubborn smart-ass that wasn't afraid to be his own person as his strong aversion to razors clearly showed. Gary liked to prove people wrong so when told he couldn't or shouldn't do something, that made him that much more determined to triumph. At heart, Gary was a back woodsman, he dreamed of living in a log cabin and hunting. You would most often find Gary in ripped jeans with a camo shirt and hat. He loved to drive derby cars and enjoyed doing electrical work. Gary like to work with his hands and loved to make things with wood. Through the years, Gary made many friends and touched the lives of those around him without even meaning to. He was a very private and modest person but still managed to inspire those around him. His wife, Gwen remembers Gary asking both her AND Jacquelin out for their first date. He fell in love with Jacquelin and loved her as if she was his own. This is the kind of person Gary was. Gary was united in marriage to Gwen Dalton on May 30, 1998 in Baldwin City, KS. She survives him of the home. Also surviving Gary are three daughters; Jacquelin, Melissa and Kendall, all of the home; his parents of Baldwin City; three brothers; Mike and wife, Tara of Comanche, OK; Brian and wife, Lynn of Baldwin City; Chris and wife, Leah of Lawrence, KS; sister, Deidra of Lenexa, KS; and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends and family for a visitation service from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Chapel, 712 Ninth St, Baldwin City, KS.
