Gayle Eugene Cook Born May 21, 1927-Died August 20, 2016 Born May 21, 1927 at home in Baldwin City, Kansas, to Murlin Lewis Cook and Orpha Phyllis (Cunningham) Cook. He attended school in and around Baldwin City, KS, and graduated from Baker University after serving in the Army in Europe from 1945-1947. Gayle married Rose Marie Newland at 7:00 am on February 14, 1948, at Ives Chapel Church in Baldwin City, KS. Their children include Gaylene Rose Tunison, Austin, Texas; Charles Robert (Deborah) Cook, Wellsville, KS; Theodore Ray Cook, MD (Karolyn, MD), Newton, Kansas; and Fred Samuel (Amy) Cook, Olathe, KS. He has fourteen grandchildren, five foster grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He has several others he considered his own, as well-including Timothy James Olson, Las Vegas, Nevada; M. Eugene Tunison (Sheryl), Oakton, Virginia; and others too many to name. Gayle was a principal and a teacher at Edgerton, KS, an accountant for Great Lakes Pipeline Company, and later graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City. He practiced as a Chiropractor in Osage City, KS, from 1956 until 1980 when he became a clinical instructor at Palmer College of Chiropractic until he retired in 1992. Gayle coached basketball and softball and was a leader in Boy Scouts. In 1975 at a United Methodist Lay Witness Mission Gayle asked Jesus Christ to be his personal Lord and Savior. He was active in the Full Gospel Business Men's Association, the Gideons, prison ministries and with the Stephen Ministry. He was a member of the United Methodist Church since September, 1956. Gayle was preceded in death by his beloved spouse, Rose Marie; his infant grandson, Corban Jonathan Cook; a foster daughter, Barbara Ann Martinez, her husband Richard and their son, Richard; and his parents, Murlin and Orpha Cook. Gayle has two surviving sisters, Carol (Julius) Brosa, Overland Park, KS; and Anita (Merle) Engelke, of Topeka, KS. Gayle's grandchildren are: John (Anne, MD) Tunison, Farmers Branch, Texas; Sarah (Tom) Crawley, Sparks Glencoe, Maryland; Randall (Rachel) Cook, Topeka, KS; Robert Cook, Topeka, KS; Samantha (Mun Lai) Chong, Gardner, KS; Eric Cook, Olathe, KS; David Cook, Kansas City, Missouri; Isaac Cook, Lawrence, KS; Max Cook, Olathe, KS; Christopher Cook, Clarkston, MI; Caleb Cook, Wichita, KS; Chad Cook, Manhattan, KS; Katy Cook, Newton, KS. Visitation will be at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Chapel, Baldwin City, KS, on Thursday, August 25, from 6:00-8:00 pm. Funeral service will be at the Osage City United Methodist Church on Friday, August 26, at 10:00 am. Interment will be at the Oakwood Cemetery in Baldwin City, KS, at 2:00 pm.
