Harry Richard "Rip" Nesch, age 87, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away June 3, 2014, at Ottawa Retirement Village in Ottawa, KS. Harry was born November 24, 1926 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Harry Waggoner and Ina (Iseman) Nesch. Harry graduated from Pittsburg High School, Pittsburg, KS. He joined the United States Army and was stationed in the Pacific during World War II. He received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the WWII Victory Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal. After the war, Harry attended the University of Kansas. He was self-employed for most of his working life. In the 50's and early 60's, he worked for the Peabody Coal Co. in Kentucky and Illinois. The family moved to Kansas in 1963 where Harry was engaged in farming. After farming, he was part-owner of Killough-Clark Construction. He started Nesch Brass Foundry with his son, James Nesch in Fort Collins. In his sixties, Harry also was a Peace Corp volunteer having served over three years in Lesotho, South Africa, as well as Samoa. Harry was united in marriage with Isobel Faurot and they had three children, Janet, Jim and Kathryn. They later divorced. Harry is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Janet Nesch, who died June 2, 2014, and a son, James Nesch, who died February 10, 2014. Harry is survived by a daughter, Kathryn Williamson and husband, Jim, Ottawa, KS; three grandchildren, Jacob Williamson, Lawrence, KS, Elliott Nesch, Roseburg, OR, and Ethan Nesch, Fort Collins, CO; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Abrams, Raymore, MO; as well as three nieces and two nephews.
