Inge Rosemarie Kahn

Inge Rosemarie Kahn, 77, of Savannah, GA, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Memorial Hospital surrounded by family and friends. Inge was born on December 5, 1941 in Frankfurt, Germany to Dr. and Mrs. Kurt Schleier. She immigrated to the United States at the age of 17, as a nanny and shortly thereafter, began a modeling career for fashion houses such as Gucci, Yves St. Lauren, and Channel which spanned several decades. In 1964, Inge was united in marriage to Kenneth Edgar Kahn in San Francisco, CA, where they had two children Edgar M. Kahn II and Lisa Kahn. They later divorced. After working in many high fashion boutiques in the San Francisco Bay area, she opened Piere Olivier fashion boutique in Danville, California. Her love of historic buildings and antiques brought her to Savannah in 1998. Her flair for fashion continued and she owned and operated Inge's Casual Elegance on Bull Street in Savannah for over 18 years where she was known for her color, style and elegance. She touched the lives of many people through her business and throughout Savannah. Inge was also known for her love of animals. She often fed, sheltered, adopted, and provided medical care for lost or abused animals. Often Inge would get a phone call from a friend that knew of someone that had a cat or a dog that needed a home. Inge was preceded in death by her parents, but is survived by her daughter Lisa Kahn; son Dr. Edgar M. Kahn II and his wife, Jill, of Parker, CO, and their two children, Ryan and Kyle. Inge requested no public services. Inge's family intends to have a gathering to celebrate of her life, at a later date in Savannah.
