John Ernest Michener

John Ernest Michener, age 93, of Vista, California, passed away May 29, 2014, at Redlands Community Hospital in Redlands, CA. John was born August 20, 1920, in Ottawa, KS, the son of William E. and Nora (Balch) Michener. Major John E. Michener, 29 Weather Squadron (MATS), retired from the United States Air Force on August 1, 1962. During his service to The United States of America, John was decorated with honors including: Air Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Air Medal, Air Force Reserve Medal, Distinguished Unit Citation, and the Air Force Longevity Service Award with Four Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters. Graveside service with full military honors will be held Wednesday June 4, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Baldwin City, KS.
