Margie Adcock Obituary

Margie Mae Adcock (Schwalm) 79 of Baldwin Ks, passed away Saturday December 2, 2017 at Lawrence Memorial. She was born on the family farm near Worden Kansas on March 22, 1938 to Lester and Helen Schwalm. She attended Union grade school and graduated from Baldwin High School in 1956. Margie loved animals and greatly enjoyed her childhood on the farm. She was also an accomplished accordion player and achieved national recognition. She was married to Bill Adcock Jr of Ottawa Ks, in 1957 and later divorced. Margie's career included work at the University of Kansas, Baker, Kansas SRS, among other office and administrative positions. Margie is survived by her daughter Cindy, and husband Joe O'Reilly of Westwood KS, her son Chuck, and wife Sheila Adcock of Monroe GA, four grandsons: Brad and Bliss O'Bryhim, Chad and Darcey O'Bryhim, Dustin Adcock, Dylan and Natalie Adcock, three great-grandsons and two step-grandsons; Sean O'Reilly, and Michael O'Reilly. She is preceded in death by her long-time friend Mel Kreschel. Margie adored her grandchildren and was very out-going and social. Although she did not have siblings, she dearly loved her cousins and spent her entire life making countless good friends. This included a 70 year correspondence with a German pen-pal. She was nearly a life-long member of Ives Chapel United Methodist Church in Baldwin. Margie's love, generosity and friendship will be sorely missed. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Wed, Dec 6 at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home 712 Ninth Street, Baldwin KS. Funeral will be at 10 am on Thurs Dec 7 at Ives Chapel United Methodist Church, 1018 Miami St, Baldwin. Graveside service and internment will at the Sutton Cemetery. In in lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to the American Lung Association, Ives Chapel Church or the Baldwin Public Library.
