Michael James Dunnivan

Michael James Dunnivan, 72, of Rantoul, Kansas passed away Monday, May 28, 2018 at the Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, KS. He was born September 23, 1945 in Wichita, KS the son of James Richard Dunnivan and Mary Louise (Fry) Dunnivan. He grew up and attended numerous schools, including De LaSalle and Shawnee Mission North High Schools in the KC Metro area. He was united in marriage to Caron Belle Keller on May 15, 1964 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish Catholic Church in Kansas City, MO. They shared over fifty-four years of marriage. Michael's work history included unloading freight as a day worker in KC rail yards to Industrial Maintenance Technician for over 45 years in the fiberglass industry. Michael loved the outdoors and wild life. He was a productive gardener, tending the orchard and vegetables. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and hiking with his family and friends. He also enjoyed raising horses and always had a dog by his side. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Michael took pleasure in his children and grandchildren's accomplishments academically, in all sports at school and on summer recreation teams. Mr. Dunnivan was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Karen Kay Jeffers. He is survived by his wife, Caron of the home; three children, Michael John Dunnivan and wife, Estephana Gutierrez-Dunnivan of Lawrence, KS, Angela Caron Dunnivan of Rantoul, KS and James Warren Dunnivan and wife, Vanessa of Rantoul, KS; a brother, Gary Lynn Dunnivan and wife, Margaret of Olathe, KS; a half-sister, Vicki Richardson; and eight grandchildren, Morgan & Emily Holloman, Alexis, James Richard, Logan, Alyssa, Jacob and Riana Dunnivan; numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services and Interment will be held 10 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2018 at Highland Cemetery, 1050 E. 15th Street, Ottawa, KS 66067. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2018 at the funeral home.
