Norman Dee Spring, 88, of Shawnee, KS, formerly of Williamsburg, KS, passed away February 22, 2015 at his home. He was born October 30, 1926 in Williamsburg, KS, the son of Clarance Wilber (Jack) Spring and Ada Tot (Minnick) DeVault. Norman attended and graduated from Vinland High School, Vinland, KS with the class of 1943. Following graduation he attended college for a short time and then enlisted in the United States Navy to defend our country during World War II. He was a radio operator in the Asiatic Pacific region of the War. After the war Norman moved to various locations including Washington, Nebraska, Joplin, Missouri in 1954 and Kansas City, Missouri in 1965. During this time he was employed as a technician for AT&T. He returned to his birthplace of Williamsburg in 1978 and shortly after retired. Norman was a former member of the Drum and Bugle corps of Joplin, Missouri and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Ottawa. On April 5, 1947, Norman was united in marriage with Dorothy Lucille Collins in Olathe, Kansas, they shard sixty-six years of loving marriage together. Dorothy preceded him in death on October, 6, 2013. He is also preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Robb Spring; sister, Norma Jean Tabor; and one brother, Larry Joe DeVault. Norman is survived by two sons, Jack Spring of Shawnee, Kansas, Randy Spring of Kansas City, Missouri; a sister, Marilyn June Smith; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., Friday, February 27, 2015 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Ottawa, KS. Funeral services will follow the visitation and begin at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Homewood, KS.
