Raymond L. Wolken

Raymond L. Wolken, 61, of Ottawa, KS, passed away April 25, 2018 at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, KS. He was born in Chanute, KS, July 7, 1956 the son of Raymond P. Wolken and Geraldine (Stone) Wolken. Raymond moved to Ottawa with his family as a child. He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1975. Raymond worked for Burlington/Northern/Santa Fe from 1977 until his retirement in 2015 as a machine operator. He was member of BMWE # 2404. Raymond proudly served his country from 1975 until 1977 in the United States Marine Corps attaining the rank of Corporal. Raymond was a true jokester; he loved to get in a good laugh whenever he could. He was a wonderful grandfather and loved his grandchildren immensely. He was a bit of a home body that was fine just being in his house with his family around him to enjoy one another's company. When he was out and about he enjoyed fishing and feeding the squirrels on his block. In 2008 Raymond was united in marriage to Ruby McCurdy. She survives of their home. He is also survived by his children: Ray Wolken and his wife, Angie, Gardner, KS, Katrena Wolken, Denham Springs, LA, Alyssa McCurdy and her husband, Ray Elder, Ottawa, Andrew Wolken, of the home; Grandchildren Abigail Taylor, David bunch, Celina Bunch, Kailani Donham, Jaiden Martin, Beckham Wolken, Teagan Elder, Azia Elder; sister Rose Heinlein, Ottawa; brothers, JD Wolken and his wife, Nancy, Williamsburg, KS, Mike Wolken and his wife, Barb, Ottawa, Pete Wolken and his wife, Dina, Ottawa, Steve Wolken and his wife, Carmen, Ottawa; and many nieces, nephews. Raymond is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sherry Wolken. The family will receive friends for a viewing and visitation of Mr. Wolken from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa.
