Ricky L. McCurdy

Ricky L. McCurdy, 48, of Pomona, KS passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017 at his home. He was born April 6, 1969 in Ottawa, KS the son of Billy McCurdy and Susan Elaine (Tegtmeyer) McCurdy. He grew up and attended schools at Williamsburg, KS and graduated from the Williamsburg High School in 1988. Ricky was a heavy equipment operator and worked for J.H. Sheers and Sons of Paola, KS; Santa Fe Railroad of Kansas City, KS; Martin Marietta of Ottawa, KS; Olathe AG of Olathe, KS; and Deffenbaugh Industries of Bonner Springs, KS. He was united in marriage to Michell Sly on September 10, 1994. Ricky enjoyed riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles; BBQ with family and friends; bowling; coaching softball for his daughter's teams; karaoke; and spending time with family and especially his grandchildren. Mr. McCurdy was preceded in death by his mother, Susan Elaine McCurdy on September 29, 2004 and a brother, Scott Johnson in July of 2000. He is survived by his wife, Michell McCurdy of Pomona, KS; three daughters, Kelsy McCurdy of Pomona, KS, Rendi McCurdy and her fiancé Daniel J. Rusk of Princeton, KS and Sydne McCurdy of Pomona, KS; his father, Billy McCurdy and his wife Lynn of Waverly, KS; three grandchildren, Bentley Kirkland, Abel Rusk and Rhettley Rusk; several aunts; uncles; and cousins.
