Ruth Elisabeth Jahn

Ruth Elisabeth Jahn, 92, Ottawa, passed away October 19, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born March 14, 1924 at Lengerich, Germany, the daughter of Albert Zemke and Anna (Fieseler) Zemke. Ruth grew up in Lengerich, graduating from high school there. She then graduated from University in Germany graduating as a lab technician at the top of her class. She moved to Czechoslovakia and was a Lab Tech in Brno, Czechoslovakia at a German Air Force Hospital. In 1952 Ruth moved to Edmonton, Alberta Canada to work at University Hospital there. While travelling to visit relatives in New York City she met Alfred Jahn. Shortly after they were engaged and on August 24, 1956 they married in Westlock, Alberta, Canada. After their marriage Ruth moved to Brooklyn to begin her married life. They later moved to Westfield, New Jersey; Nassau, New York; Valatie, New York and from 1985 to 1988 to Spruce Grove, Alberta, Canada. In 1988 Ruth moved to Ottawa, Kansas. Ruth is survived by her three children, Heidi Cleary and her husband, Steve, of Olathe, KS, Christa Jahn and fiance Michael Bloom of Dublin, Ohio, Jochen Jahn and his wife Vicki of Ottawa, KS.; six grandchildren, Jared Cleary and his wife, Savannah, Jessica Booze and her husband, Jason, Carla Jahn-Davis and her husband, Brett, Jocelyn Jahn, Josiah Jahn, Johannah Jahn; four great grandchildren, Hadley Booze, Lilah Booze, Jaden Cleary and Harper Cleary. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and three siblings, Gunther Zemke, Igneborg Zemke, and Albert Zemke Graveside funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 24, 2016 at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, KS. The family of Mrs. Jahn will meet with friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday October, 23, 2016 at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa.
