Stephen C. Virosteck, 64, of Wellsville, KS passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at his home. He was born June 27, 1952 in Cherry Point, North Carolina the son of Paul Frances Virosteck and Marilyn (Rodman) Virosteck. He grew up in Long Beach, California, graduating from Millikan High School in Long Beach with the class of 1970. He then attended Long Beach City College attaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business. Stephen grew up in Long Beach, CA; he also lived in Norco, CA, Mira Loma, CA, and Lucerne Valley, CA until moving to Wellsville in 2008. Stephen served his country in the United States Marine Corp from 1972 to 1974 attaining the rank of Corporal. He also received the National Defense Service Medal. Stephen was a very proud American and veteran. Adding to his proud was his grandson Rhett joining the Navy. Stephen was a member of the Los Angeles Sheriff Department Reserves for many years. He was proud to work with the Department and their men. He was also President and Owner of Performance Transportation Corporation. Most recently he ran the equestrian unit of the Prairie Star Ranch of Williamsburg, KS. On March 28, 1991, Stephen was united in marriage to Julie Wood Wolfe at Long Beach, CA. They have shared over 25 years of loving married life together. Mr. Virosteck is survived by his wife Julie Wood Wolfe Virosteck; mother, Marilyn Virosteck; three sons, Richard Virosteck, San Antonio, TX, Kevin Virosteck, Wellsville, KS, Ryan Wolfe, Goshen, Indiana; two daughters, Shannon Collins and her husband, Ian, Ford City, PN, Emily Duran and her husband, Steven, Apple Valley, CA; brother, Martin Virosteck, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Linda Hauser and her husband, Greg, Maryland, Cynthia Sudela and her husband, Steve, Hawaii; five grandchildren, Rhett, Deacon, Blake, Cyrus, Dolores. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Frances Virosteck; brother, Brian Virosteck; an infant brother; and a granddaughter, Jasmine. Graveside funeral services with military honors will be held 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Leavenworth national Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS.
