Steven Leo Salb

Steven Leo Salb, age 66 of Topeka, KS, formerly of Ottawa, KS passed away Friday December 30, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka, KS. Steven was born in Ottawa, KS on June 17, 1950 the son of Joseph Leo Salb and Edith Ann (Bennett) Salb. He grew up in Ottawa. Steven attended St. John's Catholic Seminary in Lincoln, NE in 1965, followed by a year at Savior of the World Seminary in Bonner Springs, KS in 1966, and was a graduate of Ottawa High School with the class of 1968. He then attended Kansas State University the following year. In the early 1980's Steven moved to Carbondale, KS and lived in the area for most of his adult life also living for a short time prior in Indiana. For nearly thirty years he was a Station Manager and Construction Manager for Hi-Way Oil Company. Currently he was working as a supervisor for Heritage Insulation Company. Steven enjoyed spending time visiting and catching up with family. He was a well-known jokester and always loved a good laugh. In 1969 Steven was united in marriage to Patricia Harrington, they later divorced. In 1975 Steven was united in marriage to Sandra Umbenhower, they later divorced. He is survived by his four children, Brian Salb and wife, Jennifer, Sand Springs, OK, Melissa Butler and husband, Gerald, Manhattan, KS, Gerald Salb and wife, Donna, Basehor, KS, Stephanie Galicia and husband, Pedro, Topeka; a sister, Teresa Salb and partner Richard, Baldwin City, KS; two brothers, Joe Salb and wife Deb of Baldwin City, KS, Frank Salb and wife Sally, Lawrence, KS; ten grandchildren, Brianna, Brenna, Jordan, Jayden, Jace, Cara, Joy, Sondra, Amalia, Serena; and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and friends.. Steven is preceded in death by his parents. A Funeral mass will be said at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ottawa. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2016 at the Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa, with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made out to American Diabetes Association and sent in c/o Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O.
