Virginia Searls

Virginia Searls, 101, of Ottawa, Kansas passed away January 21, 2016 at Ransom Memorial Hospital, Ottawa. Virginia was born in Chariton, Iowa on September 22, 1914, the daughter of Oscar and Nell (Spargur) Hoskins. Virginia graduated from high school in Rock Island, IL with the class of 1933. She worked as a Stationary Manager for Bennett Schneider invitations and stationary store on the Plaza, retiring in 1985. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Ottawa and formerly a member of Central United Methodist Church in Kansas City. Virginia was united in marriage to Fred E. Searls, Sr. on January 1, 1934. He preceded her in death on October 23, 1970. Virginia is also preceded in death by her parents. Virginia is survived by a son, Fred Searls, Jr, of Ottawa; two nephews, Karl Searls and wife, Joy, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Gifford Searls, of China. The family will meet with friends from 4-5 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at the Lamb - Roberts Funeral Home in Ottawa. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Mount Moriah Cemetery South in Kansas City, MO.
