William Ray McNish

William "Bill" McNish, age 74, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away May 3, 2015, at Hospice House in Olathe, Kansas. Bill was born July 13, 1940, in Ottawa, KS, the son of Orville McNish and Virginia (Silvius) McNish. Bill was a lifelong Ottawa resident graduating from Ottawa High School with the class of 1958. He was a lifelong farmer and stockman in Franklin County, having also worked for thirteen years at Bingo Dog Food. Bill loved the land and spent as much time as he could at his job. From sun up to sundown he was working to provide for his family and run the best farm he could run. He enjoyed hunting and boating during his time off from the farm and when he was younger he always enjoyed a trip to the mountains to go skiing. He was a devoted husband and father, but the true treasure of his world were his granddaughters. Every second of his day was spent to have time to spend with the girls. He was very proud of them and loved them dearly. On August 5, 1962, Bill was united in marriage with Diane Bones. They shared fifty-two years of loving marriage. Diane survives of their home. Bill is also survived by a daughter, Abby McNish, Ottawa; two granddaughters, Andie Rhea and Aislynn Rhea both of Ottawa; and a sister Margaret Payne, Minnesota. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Susie Whitney; and son, Andy McNish. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2015 at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Highland Cemetery.
