Delbert Strong Obituary

Delbert L. Strong, 82, of Baldwin City, Kansas passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017. He was born November 25, 1934 in Gainesville, MO, the son of Marion Strong and Lousie (Miller) Strong. Delbert grew up in Gainesville. Mr. Strong then served his country in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959 attaining the rank of Private First Class. Serving his country was a true honor for Delbert he was always a proud American. He was proud of his country and of the Armed Forces. He was a Millwright for many different companies throughout his life. His most recent employment was for All-Star Dairy of Lawrence where he retired in 2000. Delbert loved the outdoors, especially when he could enjoy them on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. From 1962 to 1994 he was an enthusiastic Harley man. He always enjoyed fishing and hunting. If he could get to a bluegrass festival he would. He enjoyed the music and excitement of the festival atmospheres. Delbert had many things that he enjoyed but his greatest treasure was his family. He loved time with the grandkids. He loved to be a part of their life and watching them grow. His greatest treasure of his life was His wife Mary Ann. There was nothing he would not do for her. His love for her was truly an example for anyone who knew them of unconditional love. Delbert was united in marriage to Mary Ann James on May 4, 1957 in West Plain, MO. This year would be there 60th year of marriage. She survives of the home. He is also survived by two sons, Edward N. Strong and his fiance, Lynette, Gardner, KS, Jack Lee Strong, Overland Park, KS; three brothers, Eugene Strong, Dora, Mo, Ray Strong, Branson, MO, Dale Strong Gainesville, MO; seven grandchildren, Jeremiah Strong and his wife, Christina, Olathe, KS, Joshua Strong, Baldwin, KS, Cody Strong, Overland Park, KS, Hunter Strong, Aurora, Co, Cory Drennen, Overland Park, KS; and two great grandchildren, Shaylee Marie and Justin James. Mr. Strong was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Elorie Welch; and grandson, Judson Strong. The family will greet friends on Sunday, April 2, 2017 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Chapel, Baldwin City, KS. Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 3, 2017 at Vinland Church of Christ, Vinland, KS. Burial with military honors will follow at Vinland Cemetery.
