Eunice Bowersox Obituary

Eunice Marie Bowersox, age 93, of Waverly, KS, passed away May 15, 2019, at Sunset Manor, Waverly, KS. She was born November 11, 1925 at her grandparents' home in Cunningham, KS (on Armistice Day), the daughter of Edward Henry Lawrence and Agnes Elizabeth (Shinliver) Lawrence. She grew up on a little farm outside Nashville, KS. On a hot August day in 1936 she moved with her family to a farm two and a half miles south of Isabel, KS. Many happy days were spent there in her life. Eunice graduated from Isabel High School in 1943. She entered the Cadet Nursing Corps Training program at Wesley Hospital School of Nursing in Wichita, KS. She graduated on September 13, 1946. One week later she married Paul Dennis Bowersox on September 21, 1946 in Clearwater, KS. What had started as a class assignment during her senior year of high school, blossomed into love over their two year correspondence during Paul's Navy service. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage. In 1953 they moved to Waverly, KS. Eunice was a respected member of the community who offered her skills as a nurse to anyone in need. She eventually became the Director of Nursing at Sunset Manor in Waverly for sixteen years. Eunice was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Ottawa, KS. She was a very active member of the church for many years as a bible study leader with her husband and as a member of the Altar Guild. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Waverly. Eunice loved to read. In the morning she enjoyed reading her devotionals and enjoyed historical novels as well. She always enjoyed gardening, sewing and traveling over her lifetime. Eunice also had a love for music. Whether it be classical, country, or really anything she always loved to have music to listen to. Most important to Eunice was her family and her faith. She was a strong example to her family of how faith in Jesus can be lived in a person's daily life. She is survived by her daughter, Kara Jeanne Ziph and her husband, Jason, Ames, IA; son Bradley Wayne Bowersox, Topeka, KS; two sisters, Juanita Keller, Pratt, KS, Gwendolyn Liebl and her husband, Ronald, Claremore, OK; one brother, Edward Lawrence and his wife, Fonda, Norton, KS; seven grandchildren, Aaron Williams and his wife, Tracy, Dodge City, KS, Dustin Williams, Waverly, KS, Laura Williams and her significant other, Josh Nauertc (known to Eunice as Honey Bunny), LeRoy, KS, Jacob Williams, Waverly, KS, B.J Bowersox, Topeka, KS, Sonia Bowersox, Topeka, KS, Julie Sickler, Florida; and three great grandchildren, Ryann, Kathryn and Erin; and many nieces and nephews.
