Eunice Ellen Hanes

Eunice Ellen Hanes was born July 16,1928 to Ralph and Rebecca Hanes and grew up in Ottawa, Kansas. She was educated in Ottawa schools and graduated in 1946 as valedictorian of her class. Ellen graduated from the University of Kansas in 1950 where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. Her BS degree was in Speech Communications. She started a Speech Therapy program in Hutchinson, KS public schools. Ellen later moved to Denver, CO where she worked for several years as an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist. Ellen went back to school and obtained a librarian degree from the University of Denver and served as a librarian in Northglenn, CO at Northeast Jr. High until her retirement. Ellen belonged to St. Johns Episcopal Cathedral where she was a member of St. Martha's Guild. She was also a member of P.E.O. Chapter CK for 30 years. She and her dear friend, Virginia Besch, shared a home in Aurora, CO for many years, and most recently, Ellen and her little dog Becky lived at St. Andrews Village in Aurora, CO. She is survived by her first cousin Margaret Gilliland and family. A public visitation will take place Monday 8/13, 1pm at Horan & McConaty; 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave. Aurora 80014. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday 8/14, 11am at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral; 1350 N Washington St. Denver 80203. Graveside service and interment will be Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 11:00 am at Hope Cemetery in Ottawa, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be sent in c/o Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O.
