Eva Sebring Obituary

Eva Katherine Sebring, 90, of Overbrook, KS formerly of Burlingame, KS, passed away December 27, 2018 at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook, KS. She was born November 29, 1928 the daughter of Fred Aaron Sortor and Anna Urania Carolina (Tolin) Sortor in Colby, KS. Eva grew up in Clay Center, KS graduating from Clay Center High School with the class of 1946 with her degree in normal training. On October 19, 1946, Eva was united in marriage to LeRoy Sebring in Clay Center, KS. They celebrated fifty-two years of marriage until Leroy passed away in 1998. Eva and LeRoy moved to Topeka in the early 1950's. She worked for Macy's and then Dillard's in Topeka as a Sales Associate for over thirty years, retiring in 1996. In 1970 they moved to Burlingame where Eva lived until 2006 when she moved to Overbrook. Eva was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Topeka until moving to Overbrook she then attended Overbrook Bible Church. She spent many hours at the Osage City Senior Center. She loved to sew and participate in their crafts programs. She even spent time oil painting there. She always enjoyed getting together with the retired Macy's workers group at Perkins to catch up over a cup of coffee. She loved to ride horses. She participated in a one hundred mile trail ride which was a great memory for her. She was a member of the Topeka Round-up Club and served the club for many years as a board member. She was also an avid cake decorator. Her artistic abilities were always up to the challenge of a great cake to make. Most important to Eva was her family. She adored them all and enjoyed the time's they spent with her over the years. Eva is survived by her daughters, Susan Sebring, Topeka, KS; Barbara Sund and her husband, Doug, Overbrook, KS; two sons, Aaron Sebring and his wife, Debra, Burlingame, KS, and LeRoy Sebring, Jr., Van Buren, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Lori Allison, Topeka, KS, Trent Allison and his wife, Shannon, Topeka, KS, C. Jagger Swisher, Overbrook, KS, Ali Weaver and her husband, Alex, Aubrey, TX, Melody Baker, Silver Lake, KS, Shannon Price and her husband, Shane, Reading, KS, Bryan Sebring, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Christa Sebring, Springdale, Arkansas; fourteen great grandchildren, Madison, Brenna, Allison, Pierce, Clement, Emma, McClain, Charlie Clare, Lexi, Morgan, Will, Tristan, Titan, Talon; and three great-great grandchildren, Trysten, Natalie, and Daschel LeRoy. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, LeRoy Sebring; sister, Betty Eustice; and brothers, Fred Sortor and Ned Sortor. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the Overbrook United Methodist Church, Overbrook, KS. Burial will follow at Burlingame Cemetery, Burlingame, KS. Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday prior to the service at the church.
