Frankie Gentry

Frankie E. Gentry, 89, of Ottawa, KS passed away Monday, September 24, 2018 at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa, KS. She was born April 25, 1929 in Neosho Rapids, KS the daughter of Franklin Kansas Weis and Elsie Anna Laura (Osman) Weis. She grew up and attended schools in Princeton, KS. On May 19, 1945, Frankie was united in marriage to Leon Wilber Gentry at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lawrence, Kansas. They shared over sixty-one years of marriage before the death of her husband on February 15, 2007. They moved to Wichita, KS where Leon worked for the Boeing Aircraft Company for thirteen years. In 1965, they moved to the family farm in Ottawa, Kansas. Frankie worked as a Seamstress for H.D. Lee Company in Ottawa. Frankie enjoyed taking care of her flower garden on the farm. She also enjoyed painting landscapes, playing Scrabble and cards with family and friends. Most of all, Frankie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her family loved her baking, from cookies to pies and homemade bread. She was a former member of Ruhamah Baptist Church in Rantoul, KS and Union Chapel United Methodist Church in rural Ottawa, KS. She is survived by two sons, Carroll Gentry and wife, Victoria of Ottawa, KS and Terry Gentry and wife, Sharon of Mountain Home, AR; two daughters, Stevi Gentry of Weston, CO and Yvonne Sieg of Leavenworth, KS; a daughter-in-law, Marci Gentry of Ottawa, KS; twelve grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren. Mrs. Gentry was preceded in death by her husband, Leon; a son, Galen L. Gentry; six siblings, Charles, Marlin, Neola, Lera, Lillian, and Shirley; and a granddaughter, Dawn Michelle Eble. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, September 27, 2018 at the Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, 325 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS 66067. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, KS.
