Gwendolyn Kaye Leiker

Gwendolyn "Gwen" Kaye (Baker) Leiker, 73, of Baldwin City, Kansas, passed away Friday, November 24, 2017 at Bridge Haven Opa's House in Lawrence, KS. She was born July 29, 1944 in Colby, KS, the daughter of Albert Preston Baker and Lola (Daniels) Baker.  She was a daycare provider in Topeka, KS for many years and also taught elementary school at Knollwood Baptist Christian School in Topeka. Later in life, she was a school bus driver in Olathe, KS.   Gwen was an avid reader. On January 22, 1964, Gwen was united in marriage to Linus Leiker in Hays, KS. They were reunited in marriage on August 24, 1992 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Linus survives of the home. She is also survived by a sister, Janyce Rae Hurtt of Denver, Colorado and a brother, Charles Daniel Baker of McPherson, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Gary Preston Baker and Terence Eugene Baker. Celebration of Life services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 700 Chapel Street, Baldwin City, KS.
