Helen Earlene (Bledsoe) Crook, 68, was delivered from cancer unto eternal life Friday, February 21, 2014, at her home in rural Osage County. Helen was deeply loved by many in the Overbrook area, for she was a fixture in the school for over 35 years as a nurse's aide, teacher's aide, bus driver, lunch and recess supervisor, and sports scorekeeper. She was a fabulous cook, avid quilter, and generous caregiver. Helen was born February 5, 1946, to Clark Earl and Maxine (Rishel) Bledsoe in Topeka, KS and grew up on the family farm in north Osage County. She graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in 1964. She trusted Jesus Christ as her savior when she was 18 years old. She married Theodore (Ted) Crook May 6, 1966 in Topeka. He survives, of the home. She was preceded in death by her father, Clark Earl Bledsoe, in 2007. She also is survived by her mother, Maxine Bledsoe, two brothers, Darrell (Marilyn) Bledsoe of Berryton and Gary (Sue) Bledsoe of Carbondale, four children, David (Lisa) Crook, Overbrook, Matthew (Deidra) Crook, O'Fallon, Illinois, Andrew Crook, Overbrook, and Amy (Kevin) Safarik, Topeka, eleven grandchildren Michelle (Nick) Wilde, Faith, Michael, Danielle, Steven, and Claire Crook, Evan Craig, Makayla LaMastres-Craig, and Brock and Bryson Safarik, numerous cousins, and 9 nieces / nephews. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 25 at Grace Community Church of Overbrook, where she was a member. Funeral serviceswill be at the church Wednesday at 10 a.m. Interment will be near her home at Ridgeway Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made through Kansas State Bank, Overbrook.
