Josephine Routh

Josephine June Routh, age 95, of Wamego, KS, formerly of Baldwin City, KS, passed away Friday, March 6, 2020 at Via Christi Village, Manhattan, KS. She was born June 17, 1924 in Nebraska, the daughter of Ray Goodman and Florence (Blocker) Goodman. Josephine grew up in the Humansville, Mo area living there until 1949. On September 30, 1939, Josephine was united in marriage to Ray Routh in Stockton, MO. Together they moved to Wellsville, KS in 1949 and then to Baldwin City, KS in 1952. They shared fifty-seven years of marriage until Ray preceded her in death on January 31, 1996. In 2014 Josephine moved to Wamego, KS to live closer to her son. Josephine was a lifelong homemaker and house wife. Always caring for the family through her many talents. She was an avid quilter and loved to garden, but her favorite thing to do was read. She read many books but her favorite was the Bible. She read many different versions of the Bible over her life always interested to being more knowledgeable. She also wrote a family biography that took a great deal of time and research, but she loved every second of the time. When her grandchildren came over she loved to play cards with them. Her greatest love was for her family. The lit up her world. She was very proud of them all. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray; her parents; and infant daughter; and two great grandchildren. Josephine is survived by three children, Roy E. Routh, LaVergne, TN, Dorothy Routh, Kansas City, MO, Tom Routh, Parr, TX; six grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and three great- great grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Monday, March 9, 2020 at Alder Cemetery, Stockton, MO. The family will greet friends for a visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday, March 9th at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Baldwin City, KS.
