Marcee B Rogers

Marcee B. Rogers, 88, of Ottawa, KS, formerly of Yorkville, IL, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2020, at Olathe Hospice House, Olathe, KS. She was born July 24, 1931 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Paul and Margaret (Burritt) Bainbridge. Marcee grew up in Rockford, graduating from Rockford High School with the class of 1948. She then attended Beloit College in Beloit, WI, earning her bachelor's degree in journalism in 1952. After college Marcee worked as a bank teller in Rockford until her marriage to Joe W. Rogers Sr., on May 25, 1957. Once they married, she became an active home-maker and assisted Joe with his business. They shared fifty-seven years of loving marriage until Joe's death in 2014. Marcee was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Aurora, IL. She was in the church choir and active in many areas of the church over the years. While raising her sons, Marcee was an active parent in many school groups and activities. Marcee was well-known in the Kendall County area for her participation in the Republican Women's organization. She spent many years actively campaigning for Republican candidates in various offices. She was a great cook and famous for her baked goods and fudge. Marcee was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan and, after moving to Kansas, became a dedicated Kansas Jayhawks fan. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Sr.; her parents; a sister, Joan Elkins; and an infant daughter. Marcee is survived by two sons, Joe Rogers Jr. and his wife, Deena, Ottawa, KS, Casey Rogers and his wife, Debbie, Springfield, MO; four grandchildren, Joseph Rogers and his husband, William Anderson, Houston, TX, Alex Stoops and her husband, Scott, Chicago, IL, Daniel Rogers, Springfield, MO, Mary Rogers, Springfield, MO. Funeral services will be Monday, January 27, 2020 at Faith Lutheran Church, Ottawa, KS. The family will meet with friends at the church at10:00 a.m.; the service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Greenwood Cemetery, Rockford, IL.
