Marilyn R. Hay

Marilyn R. Hay, 86 of Ottawa, KS passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at the Lone Tree Retirement Center in Meade, KS. She was born January 7, 1931 in Woodston, KS the daughter of Orris L. and Ruth G. (McNutt) Breckenridge. She lived in Woodston, KS from 1931 to 1938 before moving to Ottawa, KS where she graduated from the Ottawa High School Class of 1949. She attended Kansas State University and later Ottawa University. She was united in marriage to Donald C. Hay on February 22, 1952 in Ottawa, KS. They shared sixty-four years of loving marriage before the death of her husband on January 18, 2017. Marilyn was a Home Economics Teacher at the Ottawa High School in Ottawa, KS for twenty-three years before retiring in 1994. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ottawa, KS; and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Mrs. Hay was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Don. She is survived by two daughters, Pamela J. Phillimore and her husband, Stephen, of Eagle River, Alaska; Donna M. Sill and her husband Alan, of Liberal, KS; and her son, Wesley R. Hay and his wife, Diana, of Hayden, Colorado; six grandchildren, Matthew, Mitchell, Russell, Alaina, Adam, and Alyssa; and six great-grandchildren, Tara, Hunter, Mackenzie, Rhys, Payton and Bronson. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, October 2, 2017 at the Lamb-Roberts Funeral Chapel, 325 S. Hickory St., Ottawa, KS 66067. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, KS. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
