Marjorie Leitnaker Obituary

Marjorie Louise (Elliott) Leitnaker, 89, of Ottawa, KS, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Richmond Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Richmond, KS.   She was born March 17, 1927 in Ottawa, KS, the daughter of Floyd Elliott and Marie E. Elliott. She graduated from Garnett High School and went on to attend Baker University in Baldwin City, KS.   On August 7, 1949, Marjorie was united in marriage to Harold Leitnaker at the First United Methodist Church in Garnett, KS.   As our Mom, Grandma, Great-grandma and rock of the Leitnaker family. Never was there a more caring, loving, compassionate and forgiving soul than this wonderful woman. Married for 67 years to Dad, they are together again. Marge worked in the office for Bennett Creamery Co. and as a secretary at Alexander-Doyen Insurance. She also held duties at Kansas Job Service Center and sold real estate for Miller-Lee & Associates for many years. She was a member and active in the North Baptist Church, Ottawa. She regularly attended a Bible study group at Ray and Jean Wiklunds home. While attending Baker University in 1947 and 1948, Marjorie was a member of the Phi Mu sorority house.   Mrs. Leitnaker is survived by her two sons: Gary E. Leitnaker (Nancy) of Topeka, KS, Thomas D. Leitnaker (Pam) of Ottawa; daughter-in-law Vicky Leitnaker, Lenexa, KS; ten grandchildren: Matt Leitnaker, Jenny Merrick, Mandy Kraus, Sarah Brotherson, Tim Leitnaker, Paige Badgett, Ali Haynes, Evan Leitnaker, Clay Casady, John Casady; and seventeen great grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold; a son, Craig A. Leitnaker and a sister, Betty Pontious. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at the North Baptist Church, Ottawa. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30p.m. - 7 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2017 at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Chapel.  Memorial contributions may be made to North Baptist Church or the Alzheimer's Association Heartland Chapter and sent c/o Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O.
