Peter F. Nicholson

Peter F. Nicholson, age 65, of Ottawa, KS, passed away March 21, 2020, at his apartment. He was born February 4, 1955 in New York, New York, the son of Peter and Jane Nicholson. Peter grew up in the Bronx, NY and Sunflower, KS, and graduated from DeSoto High School with the class of 1973. He continued his education at the University of Kansas, graduating in 1977 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Peter worked as an electrical engineer IBM Corporation where he designed power supplies. After leaving IBM, Pete started his own business designing computer games and had a number of articles published in computer magazines. Early in his life, Pete enjoyed baseball, swimming and scouting. He was very close to achieving his Eagle Scout when he moved to Overland Park, Kansas with his family. He also loved spending time with his niece and nephews and his grandnephews. As he grew older, and had to deal with schizophrenia, Pete enjoyed writing, reading science and math books, listening to all types of music and to KU basketball. He is survived by two sisters, Mary Nicholson, Ottawa, KS; Jane Montecillo and her husband, Marius, Austin, three nephews, Christopher Nicholson, Lawrence, KS, Patrick Nicholson, Ottawa, KS, and Michael Montecillo, Denver, CO; a niece, Laura Trotter and her husband, Brad, Austin, TX, two grand nephews, Penn and Trent Trotter, Austin, TX; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Nicholson, Ottawa, KS. Peter is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John and Kevin Nicholson. A Private Family Graveside Service and Inurnment will be held Monday, August 14, 2023 at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Ottawa, KS.
