Virgie R. Pfantz

Virgie Pfantz, 93, of Baldwin City, Kansas passed away February 7, 2017 at Baldwin Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Baldwin City. She was born November 30, 1923 in Dwight, KS the daughter of Harry Paulson and Eva (Wright) Paulson. She was a near lifelong Vinland area resident and a graduate of Lawrence High School with the class of 1941. Virgie was a homemaker and farm wife all of her adult life. She also worked for ten years at Baker University in Food Services Department at the Harter Union, retiring in 1993. She was a fifty year member of the Vinland E.H.U. She loved her family and her farm. She especially loved having her grandkids come spend time with her out on the farm. She always was up to Baking something when family was coming to visit. In her early years she enjoyed gardening and could always be found enjoying a good book. On June 12, 1943 Virgie was united in marriage to George Pfantz. They shared over 41 years of marriage until the death of George on September 11, 1984. Mrs. Pfantz was also preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Sara; grandson, Nathaniel; brother, Ivan Paulson; and two sisters, Dorothy Fiest, Venita Green. Virgie is survived by her children, Dennis Pfantz, Baldwin City, Doug Pfantz and his wife, Laurie, Lawrence, Tricia Hartpence, Baldwin City, Mary Wempe, Lawrence, Ginny Roseberry and her husband, Roger, La Harpe, KS; and eleven grandchildren, Laura, Fred, Mary Jane, John, Naomi, Matt, Jody, Elizabeth, Melissa, Preston, and Logan. Family will greet friends for a visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017 at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Baldwin City. Inurnment will be later at Vinland Cemetery, Vinland, KS.
