Alene Marie (Vette) Carrier

Alene Marie (Vette) Carrier was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Alvin Vette and Irene (VanDusen) Vette. She grew up on her parents’ ranch in Squirrel Creek, 30 miles Southeast of Colorado Springs. The family attended Hanover Community Church. Alene received Christ at the American Sunday School Union Summer Camp in her early teens. Her spiritual growth was observed and she single handedly conducted vacation Bible schools in mountain communities. She attended the Squirrel Creek Country School and graduated with the class of 1957.

Alene attended the Blair Business College but wanted to be more involved in serving the Lord, so she rode the train to Los Angeles, California to attend Biola University where she met her husband to be, Larry Carrier. They were married a year and a half later, two years before graduating, on August 9, 1959 in Hanover, Colorado. Alene would receive a Bachelor’s Degree when she graduated in 1961.

Their first ministry was under the American Sunday School Union starting Sunday schools, Vacation Bible Schools, and summer camps throughout the California deserts.

For the next 57 years, Alene was totally involved as a pastor’s wife and mother in Mitchell, Nebraska; Denver, Colorado; Albany, Oregon; Aurora, Nebraska; and Ottawa, Kansas. Her special ministries were with children in AWANA clubs and women’s Bible studies.

For 31 years she worked in food sales at Country Mart and Price Chopper, making hundreds of friends. On October 6th, 2025 Alene had a stroke and her health declined.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Irene Vette, and one sister, Donna Weaver.

She is survived by her loving husband, Larry Carrier of Ottawa, KS; one daughter, Beth Litzenberger and husband, Robert of Brady, NE; one son, Stephen Carrier of Lawrence, KS; a granddaughter Katie Bergen (Nate) and children, Hannah, Annalise, Nadine, and Noah; grandson, Robbie Litzenberger (April) and children, Anna, Josiah, Xander, Xavier, and Gabriella; grandson, Matthew Litzenberger (Courtney) and child, Benjamin.

Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday April 11, 2026 at Ottawa Bible Church in Ottawa, KS. To celebrate Alene’s life, a visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2026 at Ottawa Bible Church, 1623 S Poplar St, Ottawa, KS 66067.
