Alta Lorrain (Havens) Kane, 95, of Carbondale, Kansas died Wednesday, February 18, 2026 in her home.
She was born April 17, 1930 in Ness County, Kansas the daughter of James and Alta (Streeter) Havens.
On November 22, 1956, Alta was united in marriage to Robert Ray Kane in Council Grove, Kansas. They shared 50 years of loving marriage with one another until Robert’s passing on May 1, 2007.
Alta was a devoted homemaker who loved caring for her family and her home. She enjoyed yard work and was always caring for her flower garden. She also enjoyed crocheting and collectibles. Alta was a member of the Sunflower Square Dance Group and a coffee social group.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Alta Havens; her beloved husband, Robert Kane; two daughters, Linda Baker and Dena Bradshaw; and a sister, Della Pennington.
She is survived by her son, Craig Kane and his wife, Brenda, of Berryton, KS; two daughters, Connie Hemphill and her husband James, of Tucson, AZ and Denice Stell and her husband, Robert, of Leesburg, NJ; a brother, James Havens and his wife, Darlene, of Topeka, KS; a sister, Sharon Winrick and her husband, Ray, of Topeka, KS; 33 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 2, 2026 at Burlingame Federated Church, Burlingame, KS. Interment will follow at Burlingame Cemetery. To celebrate Alta’s life, a visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 503 S Topeka Ave, Burlingame, KS 66413.
