Anthony "Tony" Corcoran

Anthony Edward "Tony" Corcoran, age 78, of Ottawa, KS, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2020 in Ottawa, KS. He was born September 6, 1941 in La Crosse, KS the son of Thomas Lawrence Corcoran and Mildred Irene (Galloway) Corcoran. Tony grew up in Ottawa, KS graduating from Ottawa High School with the class of 1959. Tony attended and graduated from Kansas University receiving a Bachelor of Science in Geological Engineering and later he earned a Master of Science from the University of Texas in Petroleum Engineering. Tony served his country proudly in the United States Navy from June of 1965 until October of 1985. During his twenty year career he earned the Navy commendation Medal with Combat V, meritorious unit citation, Vietnam service medal, Republic of Vietnam service medal, Antarctica service medal with winter over device, sea service deployment ribbon, national defense medal, humanitarian service medal. Tony achieved the rank of Commander. Tony is survived by a sister in law Penny Corcoran, Ottawa; two nephews and a niece, Tom Corcoran, Tim Corcoran and his wife, Linda, Teresa Falls and her husband Mark all of Ottawa; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Corcoran. Graveside funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Ottawa, KS. The family will meet with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday May 7, 2020 at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa.
