Barbara Leach Obituary

Barbara Ann Leach, 83, of Baldwin City, KS died June 9, 2026, in Baldwin City at Baldwin Healthcare and Rehabilitation.

She was born August 18, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of William DeCaeny and Arlene L. (Kier) DeCaeny. She moved from Overland Park, KS to Baldwin City, KS in her youth, and later graduated from Baldwin High School with the class of 1961.

On August 5, 1961 Barbara was united in marriage to Russell “Gene” Leach at Sacred Heart Catholic church in Ottawa, KS. They shared 60 years of marriage before Gene passed on March 3, 2022.

Barbara worked as a para at the Baldwin Grade School, was a secretary at Century Wood Products. She also worked as a part of Virgil Smith Bail Bonds and later Edward Jones in Ottawa, retiring in 2025.

Barbara was a devoted member of Annunciation Catholic Church, Baldwin City.  She enjoyed traveling especially to the Mackinac Island, Mount Rushmore, and the Grand Teton National Park. She loved to see the countryside and always kept her flowers beautiful every year. She enjoyed reading and using google for any information needed. The farm was her life and was very devoted to her marriage.  Gene and Barbara had a special life together.  They fought fights and stuck together to the end.  Their love was stronger than anything that was thrown their way and they both cared for each other through thick and thin.
