Beverly Hjorth passed away August 30, 2023 following a short stay at Rock Creek Ottawa Nursing Home. Born in Ottawa, KS, June 30, 1926, she recently celebrated her 97th birthday at home, enjoying cake and conversation with a few good friends.
Beverly attended Ottawa High School, working at Woolworth’s after school. Following graduation, she became bookkeeper at Bruce Co., which later became H.D. Lee. She retired as office manager after 44 years.

A lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church, she and her sister Doris Jane sponsored the Methodist Youth Fellowship. She taught the Lend-A-Hand Sunday School class, was President of Susannah Circle United Methodist Women, sang in the choir, and participated in conference and district offices. At one time she was active in Beta Sigma Phi.
Beverly was preceded in death by her sister, Doris Jane Hjorth; her mother, Della Selby Hjorth; and her father, Harry Hjorth. Only a few distant relatives remain.
Beverly will always be remembered as a kind, considerate, sincere, and helpful lady who exemplified her Christian faith by her actions in so many ways. An angel on earth, she earned her wings in heaven.
