Bobby "Bob" Jay Saile

July 8, 1933 ~ August 19, 2021 (age 88)

Bobby Jay “Bob” Saile was born July 8, 1933 to Joseph Henry Saile and Fanny Rachel (Reusch) Saile of rural Douglas County.  Bob lived in the Baldwin City area his entire life until his death Thursday, August 19, 2021, at the age of 88 years.  Bob was a lifelong farmer.

He graduated from Vinland High School, Vinland, Kansas.  Bob was united in marriage to Donna Cline February 5, 1958 in Lawrence.  They were married for over 59 years.

Bob is survived by two sons, Steve Saile of rural Baldwin City and Jeff Saile and wife Brenda of Baldwin City; three grandchildren, Krissy Kline, Matt Saile, and Jake Saile; and great-granddaughter, Kalla Kline.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Fanny Saile; his wife, Donna; his brothers, Clifford Saile, Jack Saile, Darrell Saile, and his twin Billy Saile; and grandson Bobby Saile.

Bob served in the United States Army for one tour of duty.  He worked for Penny Ready Mix and Lawrence Ready Mix for a number of years in addition to farming.  He was an Ottawa Coop Association board member for ten years.  In 1998, Bob and his wife Donna were founding members of the Power of the Past Antique Engine and Tractor Show.  They remained active in the Association their remaining years.

Bob loved his family, his many friends, his army buddies, farming, and all things Allis-Chalmers.  He always enjoyed visiting and reminiscing with family and friends and taking day and weekend trips.

The family especially appreciates the loving and compassionate care given Bob by the Baldwin Healthcare and Rehab Center caregivers and by the Prairie Wind Hospice caregivers.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be made to Power of the Past and sent c/o Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O. Box 64, Baldwin City, KS 66006. Condolences may be sent to the family through www.lamb-roberts.com.
