Bonnie E. (Stauffer) Gilroy, 75, of Ottawa, Kansas died Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Olathe Hospice House in Olathe, Kansas.
She was born December 6, 1949 in Lawrence, Kansas the daughter of George and Nancy (Sumner) Stauffer. She graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1967.
In 1969, Bonnie married Jerry Kiefer, they later divorced. On December 2, 1985, Bonnie was united in marriage to Greg Gilroy, with whom she shared 33 years of loving marriage until his passing.
In her youth, Bonnie worked as a waitress at L&M Café. She then owned and operated Broasted Chicken and later Wellsville Café. She was a member of the National Guard Auxiliary (EANGAS) and the Ottawa Eagles and Ottawa Elks.
Bonnie enjoyed old cars, 70’s crime shows, and soap operas. She loved to crochet and put puzzles together. She was known to always share her opinions. Most of all, Bonnie loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Nancy Stauffer; her husband, Greg Gilroy; a son, Michael Kiefer; a step-son, Richard Kiefer; and a brother, Bill Stauffer.
She is survived by a son, Scott Kiefer and his wife, Christie, of Pomona, KS; a step-daughter, Jeri Kiefer-Bettge and her husband, Roger, of Ottawa, KS; a brother, Andy Stauffer of Ottawa, KS; 21 grandchildren, Owen and Anna Twedt, Michelle, Kyle, Mandy, Scotty, Hunter, Randi, Jeremy, Tyler, Audrey, Brittney, Zachary, Xavier, Kelsey, Shawn, Devin, Jordan, Carmen, Kathy, and Ricky; and several great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Saturday, August 16, 2025 at the National Guard Armory, Ottawa, KS.
