Brian Allen Messenger, 62, of Baldwin City, Kansas passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, KS.
He was born November 11, 1961 in Muscatine, Iowa the son of Allen Messenger and Janet (Hendrickson) Messenger. He graduated from Parkway West High School, Ballwin, MO with the class of 1980. He then attended Emporia State University and later received his Associates Degree in Business from Lake Land College, Mattoon, IL.
Brian has been the Shipping Supervisor for the J.C. Penney Distribution Center, Overland, Park, KS.
In his youth Brian was active in Boy Scouts, golfing with his dad and loved all animals, especially dogs. One of his greatest loves was training dogs. He became a Certified Dog Trainer in his college years and if he had his way he would have been a Dog Trainer for his profession. Brian was an active Body Builder and took 2nd place in the 1992 Mr. Kansas competition. At the age of 50 he won 1st place in the F.B.B N.P.C. Midwest Championship.
Brian’s love for his son Brock was always on display, especially on Dudes Night Out, when they would go cruising and go to Pizza Time for Pizza. He dedicated many hours over the years to various organizations in support of Downs Syndrome and his son, Brock. He has been an advocate and active member for helping families and individuals with Downs Syndrome lead successful and productive lives.
On August 2, 1994, Brian was united in marriage to Sharon Smith at Lenexa, KS. They share twenty-nine years of loving marriage.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Messenger, Baldwin City, KS; son, Brock Adam Messenger, Baldwin City, KS; daughter, Hannah Marie Messenger-Finch and her husband, Cameron, Paola, KS; mother, Janet Messenger, Charleston, IL; brother, Gary Messenger, Simpsonville, Kentucky; and two grandchildren, Joanna Marie Finch and Archer Allen Dean Finch.
Brian is preceded in death by his father, Allen Messenger.
Funeral Services will be 2:30 p.m., Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral home, Baldwin City, KS. The family will greet friends for a visitation from 1:00 p.m. to the service hour Saturday at the funeral home.
