Carrie Hansen Obituary

Carrie Shannon Hansen, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at her home in Vassar, Kansas with family and friends by her side.

Carrie was born in Raytown, Missouri on May 17, 1969.  She was 56 years old.  She graduated from Raytown South High School and graduated with her RN degree from Marymount College in Virginia.  Carrie went on to spend 22 years working at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri after which she switched to hospice care.  She wondered if she would like working with the elderly after so many years caring for children, but she thrived on helping them and getting to know their life stories.

Carrie had a loving heart as a child and throughout her life.  From the time she was old enough, Carrie volunteered as a “Candy Striper” at Research Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.  In her earlier childhood she would regularly bring home sick or injured animals and nurse them back to health.

Carrie is survived by the Love of Her Life, husband, CT Hansen.  They loved all family events, to travel and RV.  Carrie first a mother, loved all family activities and having family get-to-gethers. She is survived by her mother, Bonnie Fiske-Plumberg; her father, Finley Robert Fiske; her step-father, Tom Plumberg; two sisters, Julie Fuller of Lenexa, KS and Jennifer Parks of Dessert Springs, CA; two step-sisters, Gretchen Morgan of Seattle, WA and Jane Plumberg-Rojas of Overland Park, KS.

She is also survived by her children, Karily Finley Fiske, Kathryn Abigail McGinnis and Carsen Tracy McGinnis; and a step-son, Clayton Tyler Hansen.  Carrie leaves behind her friends, too numerous to name them all, cherishing each of them throughout her life.

Carrie’s saying was…”I’ll figure it out” and somehow she always did.
