Charlene L. McClain, 84, Carbondale, KS, passed away Monday, February 8, 2021 Auburn Homestead, Auburn, KS.
She was born October 11, 1936 in Leroy, KS the daughter of Grover Edwards and Murel Brown. She grew up in the Topeka, KS area graduating from Topeka Seaman High School with the class of 1955.
On February 8, 1955 Charlene was united in marriage to Jack H. McClain in Topeka, KS. Together they lived in Topeka until moving to Carbondale, KS in 1963 living there together for the rest of their lives. Jack preceded Charlene in death in 2013. They shared fifty-eight years of love together.
Charlene was a lifelong homemaker. She also loved tending to her flowers and many plants. She kept a very nice garden all of the time. She was also an avid fan of the K.U. Jayhawk basketball team and a huge fan of John Wayne. Above all things though Charlene loved her family deeply and it showed in the time and care she took for them over her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack McClain; her parents; a son Steven McClain; and three siblings, Maxine Rodriguez, Ernie Edwards, and Hazel Eastman.
Charlene is survived by three sons, Kevin McClain, Topeka, Stewart McClain and his wife, Rhonda, Carbondale, Troy McClain, Berryton; four grandchildren, Heather Munoz, Lisa Crouch, Laura Hansen, Heather Neill; and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 17, 2021 at Carbondale Church of Christian Fellowship, Carbondale, KS. Interment will follow at Shawnee Center Cemetery, Wakarusa, KS.
