Charlotte Gay

Charlotte Ruth Gay, 75, formally of Midwest City, Oklahoma, passed away on March 21, 2021, in Holton, Kansas.

Graveside Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday March 27, 2021, at the Overbrook Cemetery in Overbrook, Kansas with internment to follow.  Services will be live-streamed on the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home Facebook page for friends unable to attend.

Charlotte was born August 16, 1945, in Lawrence, Kansas, the daughter of Charles Floyd and Percie Ruth (Durkee) Anderson. Charlotte was taught by both of her parents who were teachers until she graduated 8th grade.  She attended Twin Mound and Richland grade schools. She graduated from Overbrook High School and began her college studies at the University of Kansas when she was 16 years old.  She later received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio and Television from Washburn University.

She married Allen J. Morse, the two were later divorced.  She had worked for the Topeka Public Library and worked on the Topeka Bookmobile. Charlotte moved to Midwest City, Oklahoma in 1982 where she met her second husband, Bernard Gay. Charlotte lived in Midwest City, Oklahoma for over 35 years. Charlotte moved due to health reasons to Holton, Kansas to stay with family. 

Charlotte was known as a kind and caring person.  She enjoyed tending to her flowers and plants. She also was a race fan who enjoyed attending car races, especially Sprint car races, and was a member of a Sprint car racing pit crew.  

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bernard Gay.  She is survived by her son, Tim Morse, Holton, Kansas and his wife Mellissa; granddaughter, Tess Portiner (Eric) of York, Nebraska; grandson, Jonathan Morse (Breonna), Wichita, Kansas; grandson, James Morse, Kansas City, Missouri; and 3 great-grandchildren.
